Embrace the small victories, too.

After finishing Insanity, while continuing to run, I decided to sign up for my first 5k race. My goal was to finish. That's it. I didn't care how slow I was. I didn't care about not running with others. I also didn't care that it was just me at the race, no one at the finish line. My time for this was barely under an hour. I reached my goal!

It was an amazing experience for my soul. It's funny, I kept the shirt from that run for years. It was a size XL women's and when I finally came around to throwing it away, it was huge on me. It kept me grounded by reminding me of all the hard work I put in.

This brings me to today's topic. I want to talk about wins and celebrating those wins, both big and small.

Taking action to create a healthier lifestyle is an incredible feat in itself. Whether your ultimate goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, improve your fitness, or do 10 pull-ups, it's important to celebrate wins along the way.

Let's take a look at the importance of honoring these victories and how they can impact you and your goals.

1. Positive Mindset:

By acknowledging even the smallest achievements, such as completing a workout, you create a cycle of positivity that encourages you to continue with your progress.

2. Sustaining Motivation:

It can be challenging to maintain enthusiasm over the long run. By recognizing and celebrating your accomplishments, you infuse your journey with regular bursts of motivation.

3. Boosting Self-Esteem:

Each triumph, regardless of its size, reaffirms your capabilities and reminds you of your own strength. As it becomes more common of recognizing your wins, you get the opportunity to see how far you've come.

4. Creating a Supportive Environment:

By sharing and celebrating your successes with those around you, you create an environment of encouragement and inspiration. Imagine how impactful this can be for your kids to see!

5. Preventing Burnout:

In your pursuit, it's crucial to create a balance between hard work and self-care. Celebrating your wins provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and recharge to prevent burnout. It can be difficult to scale it back when you're going hard, and you might be thinking you're not going to scale it back because you'll lose motivation, but this doesn't mean you need to stop. Take the time to reflect.

Embracing the importance of celebrating big and small wins while working towards a healthier lifestyle is a powerful practice. Remember, every step forward, no matter how small, deserves recognition and celebration.
