Be The One That Decided To Go For It.

Would you agree with me if I said there are just some things we cannot control? What if I said we have more control over the things in our lives than we want to believe? Do you believe one statement over the other?

Not gonna lie, I'm a bit of a hardass at times so here we go...we have more control than we lead ourselves to believe. We just don't want to take ownership.

Let's look at Sally.

Sally spent her 20s trying all the fad diets, working out for 2 weeks here and there, and discounting the mounting evidence showing how a balanced diet and consistent exercise are more beneficial in the long run. She continued the path of self-hatred dieting and going all in at the beginning of the year well into her 30s. Sally decided to hire a fitness professional as a last resort before seriously considering weight-loss surgery. Sally went to her newly hired pro and didn't believe a word he said. He's fit and doesn't understand that she's tried everything. He doesn't get it; she just can't lose the weight. Sally ghosted him for a new trainer. Same situation. Sally finally gave up on the idea of having a trainer and stopped all effort to try and get healthy. In her early 40s, Sally took a spill and now is in pain daily. Now she really can't exercise so she might as well quit.

Sally, girl, let's have a little heart-to-heart. How did it feel to yo-yo diet for all of those years? I suppose it left you very DISCOURAGED and you probably felt like you FAILED. Why did you stop exercising after the first 2 weeks? I bet you got done with your workout feeling less stressed but after not seeing the 47 additional pounds gone after 2 weeks, you felt DEFEATED. Why didn't you scale it back a bit and read more about a healthy, well-balanced diet and consistent exercise? Oh, you were just trying to get rid of the weight as fast as possible and didn't want to waste your time worrying about how your body might react to all of this up-and-down confusion. I hear YOU. But, this is YOUR story and YOU get to control the ending. You get to decide if you are worth working on. You get to decide if you are going to actually put in the work. It's going to suck. You will come across obstacles. You will want to give up, and, there may be times that you actually do give up for a short period of time because it's ebb and flow. You get to decide if you come back to it. You will want to cry or punch someone. You will be embarrassed. People will make statements about your decisions as a way to project their own insecurities onto you. Sally, remember, YOU are the one in control of where you take this.
