An intro to strength training equipment

We've all been there at least once. You walk into a gym and see all of the weight machines, dumbbells, different bars, and those weird-looking weight balls with a handle 🤨 People lifting weights and wearing belts. This can be intimidating. But so can bringing up a Youtube video of a full-body strength workout where the instructor is lifting while reminding you to keep your core engaged, elbows forward, shoulders relaxed, toes facing forward, and all the other reminders.

Adding weights to your workout is highly beneficial for achieving fitness goals and overall strength gains. Most likely, though, if you're reading this, you're looking to lose weight. Weights are THE thing you need in your lift.

Strength training equipment includes dumbbells, barbells and plates, resistance bands, kettlebells, and weight and cable machines.

The benefits of adding strength training equipment to your workout routine include increased strength and muscle development, more calories burned = more fat loss, strong bones, improved functional fitness = easier daily movement, improved sports performance, and MORE.

Not compelling enough for you? Alright, let me ask you...how would you like to burn more in less than AND keep burning calories even after your workout???? Add in strength training equipment if you want some of that burn.

As always, safety is key. If you're a beginner, don't worry about tossing around heavy weights or practicing power moves. Don't forget to warm-up and cool down.

If you're not sure what exercises to do once you're ready, here's a simple workout (after a short warm-up)

Do 2 sets of 12 for each exercise

Squats

Bicep curls

Hamstring curls

Bent over row

Lunges

Tricep extensions

I'd love to hear how it goes for you. Or better yet, snap a pic and tag me. If this is still a little on the scary side, you have options. You can sign up for a class and let the instructor know that you're new to working out. You can also schedule a call so that we can get a custom workout plan together for YOU with instructions along the way.
